LEADING WITH PURPOSE: INTRODUCING OUR FOUNDERS AND BOARD OF ADVISORS

Meet the Visionaries and Guiding Forces Behind Ecoworks: At the core of Ecoworks’ pioneering journey towards sustainability and social impact stand our founders, Sean and Samantha. Their profound passion for environmental stewardship and community empowerment forms the cornerstone of our mission. Accompanying Sean and Samantha is our esteemed board of advisors—a diverse team of seasoned professionals and thought leaders in technology, sustainability, business, and social development. Each member contributes a wealth of knowledge, experience, and a shared commitment to driving impactful change, ensuring that Ecoworks not only dreams of a greener future but actively shapes it.

Our Founding Team

Sean Lam

Founder

Sean’s journey with Ecoworks stems from a deep-seated desire to drive significant societal and environmental transformation. He has often been struck by the contradictions in our sustainability efforts, such as replacing plastic straws with even larger plastic lids. Motivated by these inconsistencies, Sean strives for more impactful solutions. Under his leadership, Ecoworks takes action, not just in words but in deeds, with the ambitious goal of removing 10 million single-use plastic bottles from Singapore’s waste stream annually. Ecoworks is his fellowship project, supported by the esteemed Philip Yeo Innovations Fellow Programme.

The latest UN SDG report serves as a stark reminder that only 18% of Sustainable Development Goals are likely to be met by 2030. With Singapore highlighted by a concerning red dot, indicating significant challenges ahead, Sean recognizes that complacency is not an option.

Sean’s entrepreneurial path includes co-founding Jewel Paymentech, now part of fintech unicorn Advance Group. His tenure at Visa involved advocating for key regulatory changes, such as the implementation of 2 Factor Authentication and EMV chip cards—small but powerful tools that make a profound difference. Additionally, Sean is a member of the Singapore Standards Council, a volunteer police officer, NEA CV, and a People’s Association Grassroots leader. In each role, he is dedicated to fostering progress and making a positive difference in the community.
